Horses have been part of my life since childhood, beginning with riding lessons on my sixth birthday and growing into a lifelong passion. As a junior, I competed successfully in Hunters, Jumpers, and Equitation before stepping back to build the career that would one day make my dream farm possible.
When I purchased our Merritt property in 2016, I finally had the opportunity to pursue breeding in a meaningful way. My first foal, Cornelia—out of my mare Quartzee—arrived in 2017, and from that moment I knew reproduction was my true calling. I now handle all of the reproductive work myself including all ultrasound scans, insemination and foaling, and continue to expand my knowledge in nutrition, farrier care, and veterinary support to benefit the horses in my program.
We intentionally keep our barn private and our breeding program small so every horse receives exceptional, individualized care. Whether foaling out mares or developing young horses for the show ring, my work is grounded in trust, thoughtful horsemanship, and a deep commitment to the well-being of every horse in my care.
Derek — Derek discovered his love for horses later in life, but it quickly grew into a genuine passion. He is a true partner to Bridgette in every sense of the word. He is a supportive husband and father, stepping in wherever he is needed on the farm. He is known for his steady, down-to-earth, supportive nature, his dry sense of humor, and his incredible work ethic.
Sheila — Sheila, Bridgette's mom was the driving force behind Bridgette's love for horses. Sheila still calls Bridgette daily, giving her advice about farm life. In the early years, Sheila was the one responsible for bringing Bridgette to lessons and shows, and she is still her biggest cheerleader. She is a retired teacher and an avid gardener. Her flower gardens add so much beauty to Winsome Meadows.
Al — Al, Bridgette's father, is the support that every little girl dreaming of a pony ever wanted and that tradition continues today. He is the one who first put Bridgette on a horse and has been there to support her every step of the way. As a retired schoolteacher and handyman extraordinaire, he is responsible for building all of the cross country jumps and many of the farm's structures. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Hailee — Hailee, Bridgette's stepdaughter, has an obsession that rivals Bridgette's when it comes to horses. She is an integral part of the workings of Winsome Meadows. She enjoys both riding and caring for the horses. In the summer you can find her alongside Bridgette doing all things reproduction in the breeding shed.
