Kanuni is an imported Keur Eligible D-OC Dutch Warmblood by Harley VDL (Heartbreaker) bred by renowned VDL Stud in The Netherlands.

Kanuni descends from one of the top damlines in the world, Holsteiner Stamm 741. The direct damline has produced the Olympic stallions Cardento and Cartello VDL, 1.60 m stallion Quintender and more.

On her sire side, we see Harley VDL, whose pedigree is among the best for both sport and breeding, containing three international jumping stallions in a row: Heartbreaker, Carthago and Caletto I. His dam, Larthago, produced four other 1.60 m horses herself! Harley competed successfully to 1.55 m himself and has at least 14 progeny competing at 1.60 m, with many more in the high levels of sport, as well as 27 approved sons.

Kanuni is a blood-type mare with quick reflexes and loads of power, standing at 16hh, she is an exciting addition to our program of mostly large-bodied mares.

Kanuni now has 4 foals on the ground. After weaning her 2021 filly, Kanuni was started under saddle as a 6 year old, showing to 1.0m at the Desert International Horse Park within months of being started. She completed multiple clear rounds under Ben Stout.

In the barn, Kanuni is a very sweet, yet somewhat shy and sensitive mare. She is easy to handle and clearly loves being a broodmare, her true calling.

Her two fillies that we have here (2021 - Rotterdam KF, 2023 - Julliette WM) are very similar to each other in their personality, extremely people oriented, sweet and kind. I am told her 2019 filly bred by VDL Stud and now in Sweden is very similar too! I have started Rotterdam KF under saddle now and she is the easiest horse I have ever started, she gives a very good feeling and is eager to please. Of course, all of her progeny are also exceptionally athletic and especially seem to inherit her spectacular canter and gallop.
